2. How does an Ident affect your viewing?
This question was asked during our interviews to figure out how Idents affect the viewer. Being an opinion based question we received mixed responses, the majority of interviewees replied saying that they are a constant reminder of which channel they are watching and what shows to expect. One also said and I quote 'They let me know what channel I'm watching and sometimes what programs are up next'. Whereas another said 'they can enhance your viewing of the channel'. These responses are useful as they allowed us to collect an understanding of why Idents exist and their purpose/role as well as who they are received by a viewer.
3. What do you believe makes a good Ident?
We used this question within our interviews to gain a understanding of what makes a good Ident. A huge majority of our responses were that creativity and uniqueness were extremely important alongside with the use of bright bold and vibrant colours to grab the attention of the audience. One of these responses also stood out to me as the interviewer saying 'They relate to the channel' this stood out to me as it made me realise that being unique and bold wasn't always the correct approach. Others such as Interviewee 4 even went onto say 'A good range of graphics' implying that animation is also very key. Having these responses is extremely useful as it will allow us to make our Ident more successful and attention grabbing.

Are responses were that the majority of the target audience are of an older age and are more elderly . Other responses were that the target audience wasn't really defined and that the channel appeals to a massive age range not just limited to the elderly. I found this from interviewee 3 who said that 'it includes everyone, everyone pretty much'. 5. What do you expect to see in a BBC One Ident?
Here we used the question to gather what aspects viewers expect to see from a BBC One Ident. Our responses said that they expected a theme of circles as well as an appearance of the colour RED, interviewee 1 going as fair to say 'I expect to see unity, friendship like togetherness'. We'll find these responses as they furthered our understanding of how BBC One uses continuous themes to stay connected to the target audience, making the channel recognisable and rememberable. From this we can either develop our own reappearing themes within our Idents or continue the theme and this will aid our Idents success.
